The other day I was lamenting several of my kids who still have challenges with grammar, and with quoting accurately, and some with even just capitalizing their sentences! What is up with that?
When you face the facts like that, do you ever feel like a bad teacher? I sometimes do, when despite my proven strategies, my kids still don’t seem to grow or follow the plan.
But to be fair, I almost feel like a bad teacher. Only almost. I pull myself out of my doldrums with some self-reflective questions. That practice helps me realize that I am still a good teacher. Because I do make the right choices: I show up ready to teach, I care deeply for every student, I use proven best practices, and I grow my kids.
